Planning for a Girlfriend Getaway

Do you need to get away? Are you looking to enjoy some quality time with your best girlfriends? You are not alone. It seems that life is busier and more hectic for women everywhere. Does this sound familiar? Each day, you go to work, take care of your family, check on your extended family, and take your kids to sports, ballet or any number of activities they may be involved in. What about you? Have you taken care of you lately? Probably not! This is the main reason why so many women want have a girlfriends’ getaway. So, you have decided to go away, what now? How do you start planning for this great adventure?

As a Cruise Specialist and host to Girly Girl Cruises on a regular basis, I can give you some pointers for planning a girlfriend getaway to be remembered for a lifetime. Follow these simple guidelines and you will be on your way sooner than you think:

  • Get together as a group and determine who is interested in going.
  • Gather ideas on where everyone wants to go and what time of year.
  • What does everyone want to do while away?
    • Enjoy beach time
    • Lots of activity choices and levels
  • Once you have an idea of what everyone wants from their getaway, look at destinations that offer something for everyone.
  • Determine a budget that everyone can afford.
  • Consider the climate both at home and in your selected destination during the time of year you want to go.
  • Are passports required? If so, allow enough time to get them processed if you need a new one. For more information on passports, visit www.travel.state.gov.
  • Create an ideal itinerary and allow for some flexibility in the schedule.
  • Contact your travel consultant or cruise specialists to assist with finding the best deals and discounts for group bookings.

As you can see, there are a lot of things to consider when planning your girlfriend getaway. The key to remember is to start planning in advance and follow the guidelines above. You can make the planning as much fun as the actual getaway!

Tips for Traveling Together

Have you ever heard people saying that girlfriends shouldn't travel together? Or that you better be careful traveling with a girlfriend? I have. People who say these things don't understand how great going on trips with your best girlfriends can be. You get to reconnect, have fun and learn new things about the other person that you may not have found out any other way.

I have some basic advice for traveling together that will help make your experience fun.
  • Talk about your expectations of the trip ahead of time.
  • Discuss your likes and dislikes as well as what excursions you might be interested in before you leave.
  • Go with someone you know fairly well. It is harder to go with someone you just met.
  • It is okay to do your own thing once away. You don't have to do all of the same activities all the time.
  • Bring earplugs in case your friend snores.
  • If you like reading in bed, bring a book light so that the main room light can be turned off if your friend wants to turn in before you.
As you can see, these are some basic tips that will help make the trip better for everyone. So, what are you waiting for...plan your next Girls Getaway today!

Welcome!

Welcome to the Girly Girl Cruises Blog! I am very excited to share this with you. As you may know, I have been hosting Girly Girl Cruises (GGC) since 2008 and we are going strong. GGC is all about you, the strong women that you are! It is time that we leave the guys at home, leave the children at home and get together as women to bond, have fun, indulge and most of all, relax.
Every woman needs time to regroup, re-energize and have time just for her. So, join us on one of our great GGC in the future with your sister, mother, aunt, or best friend.

In this blog, I will be posting information about our GGC as well as helpful hints and information for traveling with your girlfriends.

Enjoy,
Renee
